The Internet done good!

Ten years of digital photos sitting on hard drives in the apartment, roughly archived and rarely looked at… With last week’s big anniversary, the idea of putting together a mini-retrospective has been on my mind, but the effort required to sort and edit has kept this project on the back burner. Is it really worth the time and energy? Who checks these posts and online albums anyway?

Last year, shots of an insect spotted during a hiking trip in Malaysia were posted to Flickr and showed up several months later in a search from California. Correspondence between researcher Shaun Winterton and photographer Guek Hock Ping have led to the recent announcement of a new species, Semachrysa jade. Congrats to both for observing, sleuthing and connecting.
