The spending patterns of US households: fibbing infographics

A snippet about household budgets…
At a glance, everyone’s roughly in the same boat with spending patterns for food, housing, education, retirement etc. with low, middle and high income households. Percentage-wise they’re similar, but do the math and you’ll see how infographics can be manipulated to support any story.

Housing: poor 29.2 % vs middle 26.7% vs high 27.5%, just a 2.5% spread.
With actual dollar figures, high income households spend an average of $41,250 compared to $4,380 for the poor – a difference of roughly double the entire income of the poor.
